No sorcery, just science.

Read on to learn just exactly how our paint protects you and your loved ones from indoor air pollution.

01 The Problem

Indoor air pollution

We spend approximately 90% of our time indoors. When we leave our homes, we huddle in offices, schools or malls – spaces prone to indoor pollutants. VOCs, viruses, bacteria, mould, allergens and chemical particles have an effect our physical health, wellbeing and productivity.

VOCs: the biggest culprit

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are gases released from products or chemical processes. Many products release VOCs: cleaning liquids, aerosols, furniture, post-renovation odours, electronics – even our bodies.

Benzene

Formaldehyde
Acetaldehyde
Toluene
Xylene

Benzene

Odour

Sweet, gasoline-like

Appearance

Clear to light yellow

Found in glues, paints, furniture wax, detergents and cigarette smoke.

How does it harm the body?

Benzene stops the bone marrow from producing enough red blood cells, which can cause anemia. It reduces levels of antibodies, causing a drop in white blood cells – essentially damaging the immune system.

Effects of exposure

Dry or watery eyes, headaches, cough, breathlessness, lethargy and respiratory ailments.

Formaldehyde

Odour

Pungent, vinegar-like

Appearance

Colourless

Found in building and decor materials, hair products, nail polish, cigarette smoke.

How does it harm the body?

Formaldehyde damages the liver, lungs, kidneys and the central nervous system while increasing the risk of cancer. It also aggravates respiratory conditions.

Effects of exposure

Dry or watery eyes, headaches, cough, breathlessness, lethargy.

Acetaldehyde

Odour

Pungent, fruity

Appearance

Clear, colourless liquid

Found in plants, ripe fruits and vegetables, cigarette smoke, diesel, perfumes and flooring.

How does it harm the body?

The effects of acetaldehyde are similar to a hangover. Besides impairing brain, motor and memory functions, it also damages DNA and cell membranes, causing scar tissue.

Effects of exposure

Irritated eyes, skin and respiratory tract; lightheadness, skin rashes, coughing.

Toluene

Odour

Sharp, sweet

Appearance

Clear, colourless

Found in metal cleaners, varnishes, shellac, nail polish, glues, rust preventives, printing inks.

How does it harm the body?

Toluene damages the heart, liver, kidneys and lungs. It causes numbness in the hands or feet. It also affects the development of babies in the womb. Exposure can induce confusion of anxiety.

Effects of exposure

Irritated eyes, nose and throat; dry or cracked skin, headaches, dizziness, stupor.

Xylene

Odour

Sweet

Appearance

Colourless

Found in furniture refinishers, paint thinners, solvents, lacquers.

How does it harm the body?

Xylene slows the nervous system’s responsiveness and disrupts the functioning of nerve cells. It slows reaction time and reduces muscle coordination.

Effects of exposure

Irritated eyes, nose, skin and throat; headaches, slow reaction time, loss of muscle coordination.

02 The Solution

We’ve teamed up with leading scientists and research partners to innovate a proven paint formulation that rids the air of pollutants.

Energy saving

Unlike air purifiers, Gush paints remove pollutants without any electrical costs.

Air-purifying walls

Gush paints transform the largest surface area in your space into passive air purifiers.

Clean air, 24/7

No light necessary to remove pollutants from your air. We’ve got you round the clock.

Gush Absorption Element (GAE)

VOCs don’t stand a chance

Our GPC’s catalytic agents have an activation energy of more than 120 kcal/mol. This cuts the organic chemical bonds in most VOCs.

Say goodbye to odours

Our GPC breaks down 99% of VOCs and deodorizes your space of chemical fumes, within 21 hours.

Stops microbial growth

The GAE’s absorption capacity of 19.64 g/m² deprives mould spores and bacteria of water to sprout on the painted surface.

Clean air, more quickly

The GAE’s hygroscopic nature draws pollutants to the wall, increasing the rate of contact so more pollutants are broken down in less time.

03 Testing

We conducted various third-party tests to certify our product’s efficacy against VOCs, bacteria and mould growth as shown below:
