Thin on the films,
thick on the science
See how our films create a thermal shield for your home and everyone in it – giving you protection, comfort and energy savings.
01 The Problem
Urban Heat Island effect (UHI)
As the world becomes more urban, buildings are replacing natural landscapes. Less greenery, more human activity, more heat-emitting building materials. Cities are literal hotspots that generate lots of heat. Urban infrastructure absorbs and re-emits heat, causing it to feel much hotter than surrounding areas. In Singapore, temperature differences are as high at 7°C.
It's getting hot in here
Air-conditioning and cooling systems help our indoors feel cooler, but it releases even more heat outdoors. A vicious cycle. The problem is, heat isn’t emitted from just the Sun. The solar spectrum includes both ultraviolet and infrared rays that can be produced by machines and human activities too.
Heat comes from the solar spectrum
In good doses, heat can be great for our body and mind. With too much, things take a downward turn.
Ultraviolet
Ultraviolet
Solar spectrum range
100 - 400nm
This is great for...
Increasing energy levels and improving mood. UV also kills germs, bacteria and viruses; limited exposure reduces redness, swelling and itchiness. Prolonged exposure does the opposite, giving you sunburn.
How does it harm the body?
As a form of ionising radiation, UV rays excite and disrupt molecules that can damage DNA and cellular structure. It also causes building and furniture materials to discolour and deteriorate.
Effects of prolonged exposure
Premature ageing, sunburn, skin cancer, reduced immunity.
Visible Light
Solar spectrum range
400 - 750nm
This is great for...
Seeing the beauty in the world all around us – all the colours of the rainbow. Sunlight exposure also manufactures vitamin D in our bodies, great for strong bones. It also boosts brain function and improves our mood.
How does it harm the body?
Visible light transfers heat upon exposure, creating bodily and spatial heat. Besides that, too much light creates glare that could impair vision while blue light can damage the retina.
Effects of prolonged exposure
Discomfort, tiredness, sunburn, eye damage, degradation of furniture.
Near Infrared
Solar spectrum range
780nm - 3000nm
This is great for...
Creating warmth for our bodies. It dilates our blood vessels, which improves blood circulation and speeds up wound and muscle healing. Good as a boost to your immune system.
How does it harm the body?
Besides causing the dreaded hot and sweaty feeling, IR raises the internal temperature of the eyes and skin to damaging levels. IR is responsible for 50% of the Sun’s solar emissions – the largest percentage of heat we face daily.
Effects of prolonged exposure
Eye damage, skin damage, discomfort, sweating, heat exhaustion, loss of concentration.
02 The Solution
Gush films reduce your cooling energy consumption, preserve your home and, of course, keep you cool. How? Nanoceramic technology.
How it works
The nanoceramic particles in Gush ClearCool films are tuned through heterovalent doping. As electromagnetic wavelengths pass through the film, a phenomenon called Localised Surface Plasmon Resonance (LSPR) occurs. The doped nanoceramic particles absorb UV and NIR rays, while allowing visible light rays to pass through.
Crystal clear benefits
Cool rooms & clear views
Our films have a high heat blocking efficacy without dyes or tints. With one of the highest visible light transmission levels in the market, you can keep your views clear while your home stays cool.
Easier on your wallet
Gush ClearCool films are produced using conventional polymer processing methods. No costly metallic nanoparticles or sputtering techniques needed – so you get effective, high-quality films at friendlier prices.
Block more heat
Infrared rays are responsible for 50% of the heat in our homes. Gush ClearCool films block up to 96% of near infrared rays – one of the highest standards in the market.
No Wi-Fi interferenceÂ
Gush ClearCool films don’t use metallic nanoparticles. Enjoy disruption-free wireless connectivity and zero interference with other electronics nor radio devices.
03 Testing
We conducted various third-party tests to certify our film’s efficacy, making sure your spaces look good while staying cool:
Heat-blockingÂ
Test conducted by OTM Solutions Laboratory
Gush ClearCool films are able to block heat transmissions across the solar spectrum, but allow light wavelengths to pass through.
Test conducted by Built Environment Research and Innovation Institute
Across an extended test period, our window films reduced average cooling energy consumption by 14.45%.
